Pragmatic Play has released Gates of Olympus POP, a compact new take on one of the studio’s best-known Zeus games.
The game uses a vertical 3×5 layout, giving it a noticeably different shape from the original Gates of Olympus while keeping several familiar mechanics. Our Gates of Olympus 2500 overview covers another variation, focused on how bonus multipliers count.
Winning combinations disappear through tumbling reels, allowing new symbols to fall into place during the same spin. Multiplier symbols can also appear, with values reaching up to 1,000×.
The free spins feature is triggered by landing three or more Scatter symbols, awarding 15 free spins. Additional Scatters during the bonus can add more spins to the round.
What makes the release more notable is that Gates of Olympus POP is the first title in Pragmatic Play’s new POP series.
The idea appears to be to take recognizable games and adapt them into a more compact format rather than simply releasing another standard sequel. In this case, the familiar Zeus theme remains, but the game is presented on a tighter portrait-style grid.
That makes Gates of Olympus POP an interesting test of how much a well-known casino game can be changed while still remaining immediately recognizable to existing players.
